More about Vicky:
Vicky Oliver (Trix) trained full-time at The Desmond Jones School of Mime and Physical Theatre between 1991 and 1992. In 1993 Vicky went on to Goldsmith’s college to complete with honours an undergraduate course in English. It was here that Vicky became inspired by yoga as it helped her to balance her domestic responsibilities with her study.
In 1998 and three years into motherhood, Vicky began to explore the concept of introducing yoga to children, uniting her physical theatre training with her own knowledge of yoga asana. In 1999 Vicky took a teacher training course in yoga studies with Sunra.
From 1998 - 2002 Vicky became the creative impetus behind children’s yoga classes in the South London yoga centre ‘The Art of Health and Yoga’. Here she wrote a book and teaching manual on how to teach yoga to children.
In 2002 Vicky began to explore the principles of Ayurveda in depth and its emphasis on sound therapy and the chakra system (the energy body). She took a course in Ayurveda massage under Dr Deepika Rodrigo’s guidance (The International School of Ayurvedic Massage) In late 2002 Vicky married her experience as a mother and her studied disciplines and Yoga Bananas was born. All of these disciplines have informed her method towards teaching and training.
Vicky is an advanced practitioner and registered yoga teacher (RYT500) with the Yoga Alliance, an international Yoga Teachers' Registry who recognize and promote teachers with training that meet comprehensively high standards. Vicky trains individuals to high standards, ensuring that each teacher leaves with a good understanding of how to introduce yoga to children. Teachers who show good application and commitment have the opportunity to work further with Yoga Bananas. There are no licensing agreements and all teachers who train under the Yoga Bananas auspice are free to use their training for their own devices.
